For many years now, I have been fascinated by the surreal
aspects of Museums of Natural History.
Inevitably, both their visual language and their
history have influenced my work practice.
Since I started my MA at the Royal College of
Art, I have been looking more carefully into a particular form of
display characteristic of these institutions: the habitat diorama,
exploring its magic and its possibilities.
I am particularly interested in the artificial
aspects of these man-made enviroments as well as the simultaneity
of their narrative where, like in renaissance paintings everything
is told at once. |
